Food for the Brain

This is some good information for anyone who suffers from Depression, ADD, ADHD, mood swings, Alzheimer’s, or any other mental illness. Before you go to the doctor and take the complexity and advice of a highly educated MD just think about the simplest answers. To understand this and apply this information to your life you are going to need to have an open mind and use some common sense.

Your brain is like any other organ, as far as the only way it will work at its full capacity is if you feed it correctly. If there is anything we know it is that our brain is more sensitive to vitamins and minerals than any other part of our body.

Is depression or any other illness hereditary or not? Why are we told "if our parents have it we are going to have a good chance of getting it also?" Why does the insurance Co. determine our coverage on our family history? Not necessarily. The reason why most kids suffer from the same symptoms their parents do is because they are deficient of the same nutrients. It has very little to do with heredity. It has more to do with lifestyle.

Scientific America February 1999, they went to Nigeria and found out in the wilderness where no doctors practice, they found that 7% of the people had high blood presser (which this is low compared to the US). They came to New York and found people with the same background and found that 33% had hypertension (high blood pressure).

They knew, without doing anymore research, that it is not hereditary or genetic but choice of life style because we all know if you have a genetic problem in china you are going to have the same genetic problems on Pluto. Is brain illness preventable or reversible? Well these are some of the things I am going to cover.

Depression may be a sign of hypoglycemia (things doctors don’t want you to know). If you do have some kinds of depression avoid all sugars, natural and processed. Make sure to supplement with all 90 essential nutrients especially lithium, chromium, and vanadium.

Make sure you have no allergies to these or symptoms for they could worsen. By the way allergies could be a result of or a link to depression and there are ways to naturally relieve seasonal allergies. Mineral deficiency and a lack of lithium, chromium and vanadium+ an intake of sugar is a good recipe for manic depression especially with food allergies.

The human body needs 91 essential nutrients for maximal everyday function, we all know that.   The human body needs 60 minerals, 16 vitamins, 12 essential amino acids, 3 essential fatty acids and what is the one thing most of us never hear from out of doctors? What does the doctor usually wants us to do?

Most doctors will first get you on a multi vitamin if he thinks that you need better nutrition. If we are deficient already that means that we are not digesting as well as we should be. Most vitamins will just pass right through us.

The next thing  are wonder drugs. We have more drugs today for any known illness or disease. The US alone spends more in healthcare than all the other countries around the world combined (more then $1.9 trillion). With this said, why is it that the US has more health issues than the rest of the world? Out of the countries all over the world the US ranks 46th in longevity. That is what I call a bad investment in healthcare.

The answer is as simple as this; you can’t fix a mineral deficiency with surgery or medication. The only way to fix a mineral deficiency is with minerals. And the more medication you take the less vitamin and minerals your body can consume making it more deficient. An example is; Harvard Medical School found that most people who die from diabetes don’t die from the illness but from the symptoms and long term affects of the medicine.

Let’s take a look at the brain. The brain works on electrical impulses and neurotransmitter-chemicals. These are literally made from nutrients: amino acids, vitamins, minerals, and other kinds of food and supplement nutrients. So that means that depending on the lack of nutrients that we don’t take into our bodies, can determine our mood and ability to function or concentrate. For example, there have been studies that show kids with attention deficits and/ or hyperactivity, and also aggressive adults, frequently are depleted or deficient in one or all of the following; the omega-3 fatty acid DHA (docosahexaneoic acid), folic acid, vitamin B6, Iron, and Zinc. Anxiety may be a sign of deficiencies in chromium, vanadium, lithium, hypoglycemia, hyperinsulinemia, and chromium. In both instances all sugars need to be avoided natural and processed.   Clinical studies have shown that these nutrients have significantly improved if not completely resolved the underlying illness.

Most doctors’ and educators answers to these issues are drugs such as Methylphenidate Hydrochloride witch is a narcotic and like any other narcotic drug our bodies can become dependent on these drugs. Studies have shown that Ritalin can cause things such as nervousness, insomnia, and anorexia, also hypersensitivity and tachycardia (tachycardia; a condition in witch the heart contracts at a rate greater then 100/min. This could cause congestive heart failure, anemia, hemorrhage or shock) could occur. Drugs that are used for mental illnesses are a CNS (Central Nervous System) stimulant. Once these children grow up to adulthood these symptoms seems to calm them selves down.

The unfortunate part of this is that the individuals that are on these drugs get off the narcotics and then they have to figure out how to function in society without these narcotics. Statistics have shown that the majority of individuals that depend on some kind of drug in their childhood years, as adults they usually tend to smoke, do drugs, or struggle in the job market amongst other things.  Doctors won’t paint this vivid picture for us because the easy way out is to drug a kid and it makes an individual doctor thousands of dollars per child.

Another nutritional problem we are having is how our food is processed. Documented laboratory experiments with animals show that when fed exclusively processed foods they either died painfully and prematurely, or had radical growth abnormalities. How much processed foods do Americans eat on average? Then we have to ask our self, "How much produce or fruits do we eat?"

Well the FDA has shown that "fresh" produce from your local market loses 50 to 70 percent of some nutrients before reaching the store. And if you buy canned or frozen vegetables they loss percentage can go up to about 90. That means we get 10% of the nutrition from these foods we would normally get if they were eaten right after they are picked. But, also take in mind that the FDA also finds that if we eat food right from the farm lands with all the chemicals or pesticides the food is already depleted from its nutrients. This is why America has a growing epidemic in nourishment. If we made it a point to eat all the nutrition from foods in the meals we had on a daily basis we would have to eat so much it would be impossible. This is one of the reasons supplementation with your regular meal is a must have if people want to live a healthy and longer life with out complications.
