Inflammation is your body’s reaction to infections or injuries. Inflammation, according to health.com, is your body’s first line of defense. But when it gets out of hand, it is thought to increase your risks for life-threatening diseases such as cancer and heart disease.
The possible solution: switch inflammation-causing foods with inflammation-fighting ones. According to Tufts University scientists alkaline-producing foods help maintain bone and muscle mass, whereas acid-producing foods do the contrary. Another study suggests that excess bodily fluid may boost inflammation.
