Foods That Cause Intestinal Gas

Everyone experiences stomach gas now and then. It can be quite bothersome to some people and hope to avoid them as much as possible. One way that this can be done is by avoiding foods, if possible, that might be causing gas and makes one feel bloated.

The problem with this is that there are also healthy foods that can also cause gas. Mainly, intestinal gas is caused by soluble fiber and certain sugars found in different foods. Here are common foods that might be causing your intestinal gas.

One food that may be healthy for you but can also cause intestinal gas, bananas contain soluble fiber as well as the sugar fructose. These can cause intestinal gas to develop when you eat bananas.

Pear is another type of fruit that may cause intestinal gas. This fruit contains lots of sorbitol, a type of natural sugar that can ferment in the stomach, causing gas.

Green Peppers

Green peppers contain raffinose, a type of carbohydrate that the intestine may find difficult to break down. Raffinose can also be found in cabbage and Brussels sprouts as well as sweet potatoes.

Drinking wine may also cause intestinal gas. Wine contains fructose, a sugar found in grapes. This can cause gas when the intestines begin to digest it.
