It is quite common that people tend to feel sleepy after partaking of the Thanksgiving Day meal each year. That is because of the turkey that contains the amino acid tryptophan. It helps calm people down as  well as help you get to sleep naturally.

If you are eating fish and would want to get some better sleep, you should try eating halibut. This fish considered rich in two compounds that aid in better sleep- vitamin B6 and tryptophan. With its meaty texture, halibut is even ideal for those who are not that fond of eating seafood.

The snack staple of the movie watching crowd can actually help you get better sleep. Nonfat popcorn may be a good snack to consider that you can eat before you head to bed. It contains the type of carbohydrates that can help bring the amino acid tryptophan into the brain. The brain then uses it to produce serotonin, a type of neurotransmitter that can promote sleep.
