Over-The-Counter Vitamins

People may think that ingesting vitamins may always be good for the health, that it does not pose any harm. But surprisingly, there are health risks involved with taking OTC vitamins recklessly. There are vitamins that are stored in the body and others that the body simply excrete. Too much of those vitamins that are stored in the body can be harmful and dangerous. Excess of the vitamins D, A, E and K are stored in the fat cells and may have the potential of overdosing with too much intake of vitamin supplements that contain them. Be careful when you take OTC vitamins and make sure that you do not go over the limit.

Anti-Bacterial Soap

Many people might think that having anti-bacterial soap in the bathroom is important for a clean and healthy home. But it may not be the case. Anti-bacterial soap contains an ingredient called triclosan, which is also present in other products such as furniture. Toys and even kitchenware. While their anti-bacterial properties help ensure that bacterial contamination can be prevented, there is also the possibility that the wide exposure of this ingredient in an environment can promote antibiotic-resistant organisms. It will be harder for many harmful germs to be treated by antibiotics because of this. Frequent washing with soap and water is sufficient for the ordinary home. Anti-bacterial soaps are only ideal for places where people are in constant and prolonged exposure to harmful pathogens such as in hospitals.

Energy Drinks and Supplements

Many younger adults nowadays are drinking energy drinks. Although they may help people stay alert and focused because of the caffeine that they contain, they can also pose a health risk. One reason is because energy drinks and supplements usually contain high doses of caffeine. Drinking some energy drinks can have an equivalent of drinking two cups of coffee. Some younger adults may be unaware of this and drink multiple cans of energy drinks in a day. Too much caffeine can be toxic and dangerous that can even lead to death.
