Identifying Common Feet Issues

The condition of your feet can say a lot about your overall health. That is why it is important to be aware of these signs in order to determine if you need to do something to change certain habits or have a check up with your doctor. Here are some of the signs to look out for.

Enlarged Big Toe

If you suddenly have an enlarged big toe, then you may be having gout or other inflammatory issues. Having hot, swollen, red toes and a painful joint may need immediate medical attention. It ba be due to an infection or trauma, an infection or other inflammatory conditions.

Pain In Your Heels

Some people may think that heel pain may be just a result of overexertion. But when you feel a sharp pain at the bottom of your heel when you get out of bed or when you suddenly stand up from sitting down on a chair, it might be plantar fasciitis. It is caused by a strain on the ligament that works to support the arch. There might be a variety of reasons for that happening- from wearing shoes that are too tight, walking on sandals, to wearing old sneakers.

Yellow Toenails

Your toenails can also tell you something about your health. If you start having yellow toenails, you can suspect that it may be a possible fungal infection or athlete’s foot. Such infections can also lead to flaking of the skin or brittleness. Sometimes yellow toenails can also come with age so try not to worry about it until you’ve tried to look for additional signs.
