Excess Weight

Body weight is a major factor whether a person may suffer from high blood pressure. Obesity and excess weight can contribute to increasing your blood pressure. Type Of Activity Level

The level of physical activity you do regularly can also be a factor in your blood pressure level. Exercise, or lack of it can determine if you develop high blood pressure over time. While exercise may temporarily increase blood pressure as the heart pumps more blood to your muscles, it will not do too much harm as the blood vessels in the muscles also start to dilate when you exercise in order to receive the incoming blood for energy.

Age is also a major factor in blood pressure levels. People have an increasing risk of developing high blood pressure as they advance in age. Part of the reason is because of natural regression of the body as it ages. The body starts to slow down its cellular growth and development as it grows old. The muscle cells in the heart start to degenerate after years and years of function. Aging can also cause the thickening of the cellular walls of the arteries, making them less elastic over time. A weakening heart muscle and hardening of the arteries can work together to cause your blood pressure to rise as you age.
