Household Products To Disinfect Your Home Against Viruses

Aside from bacteria, many viruses can also cause a wide range of health conditions once they infect an individual. These viruses can easily enter into your home and infect the people living inside. It is therefore important for people to try and disinfect their homes using different products found in the common home that are effective against these viruses and other pathogens. Here are just some of them.

Laundry Bleach

Bleach can be your powerful ally in trying to disinfect your home. It is an effective defense against viruses. But bear in mind that you need to dilute it since most bleaches are highly concentrated. You can do so by mixing half a cup of bleach to a gallon of water. You can use this to disinfect floors and different surfaces such as those in the kitchen. A gentle bleach solution of 2 teaspoons of bleach to a gallon of water can be effective for disinfecting items such as kids toys. Soaking toys in this solution for a couple of minutes and then rinsing can kill viruses effectively. Don’t also forget to wear gloves when handling bleach since it is a skin irritant.

Soap And Water

Soap and water may be your best bet for getting rid of viruses that may be sticking in your hands or other parts of the body. It can be very effective in destroying viruses by dissolving the fat membrane in viruses, rendering them inactive. All you need to do is to practice proper hand washing methods using regular soap to get rid of viruses.

Isopropyl Alcohol

A 70 percent alcohol solution is an effective disinfectant against viruses. There is no need to dilute it since alcohol can be used straight away for disinfecting your home. It is effective in getting rid of viruses on every surface. Just be careful in using alcohol on plastics since it may cause discoloration. And also avoid the habit of using it to disinfect your hands all the time since it can cause dryness as well as kill some of the beneficial bacteria in your skin.
