When you are under stress, you will notice that your breathing may be a bit quick but shallow. This type of breathing can sometimes cause your heart to beat faster and your body to tense up. Try to breathe deeply by inhaling slowly through your nose then watch your belly extend to its fullest as you take in air. Then try to hold your breath for a few seconds before you exhale slowly through your mouth. Do this several times until you feel the stress and tension start to fade away.

The act of smiling does more than what you think. It can send signals through nerve impulses from your facial muscles to the limbic system, which is a key part of the brain that handles emotions. You can smile if you feel happy and relaxed. You can also try to smile to feel happy and relaxed. A simple smile can go a long way to help you feel better when you are under serious stress.
